Every year, the New Song Festival selects artists from all

selected out of 1,200 entries and will perform on Mountain
Stage in early 2009.

Kelleigh McKenzie
Darkly seductive. Eerily minimal. Brashly assertive and unquestionably wry. Kelleigh McKenzie seasons her maverick
blend of folk, blues, old-time and rock with a uniquely
urbane edge, stirring the rich melting pot of Americana to
make music with intelligence,
compassion and wit. Blessed with an achingly haunting voice,
Kelleigh plucks and flails out her twist-filled tales on
banjo and acoustic guitar, all while pounding along on her
amplified stomp-box. Her stunning debut album “Chances” (Zatchubilly
Music, 2008)
is garnering rave reviews and Tony Trischka says it's “a
work of art…Kelleigh is a major talent.” Known for her
electrifying solo acoustic performances, Kelleigh was
recently named a winner in the Mountain Stage NewSong
Contest. |

Kagero
”A melting pot you’ll want to lick.” - Stephanie Nolasco,
The Deli Magazine
Kagero's sound has been described as a melting pot of
tonalities and rhythms from Asia, the Middle East and
Eastern Europe. Kagero pulls their core rock sound from
David Bowie and Neil Young, and adds the gypsy flavor of the
violin found in the works of Stephane Grappelli. Kagero's
world music goulash is very tasty – even if you don't always
know what's you're eating. Just call them your local
neighborhood urban-gypsophonic, border-jumping,
international debtor's prison groove-loving feelgood band
next door. |

Dragonflies represent the spirits of loved ones and
SkinGod's music brings them closer to us. Whether playing an
acoustic show at a local coffee house or opening for Bruce
Springsteen at Giant's Stadium, Skingod's music paints a
sonic landscape of gorgeous longing.
Inspired by the likes of Radiohead, The Cure, U2, David
Bowie, Chopin and Debussy; SkinGod's soaring anthemic
melodies, brooding lush guitars, and trancelike tribal
rhythms evoke feelings of love, loss, pain of addiction and
the hardest of all, joy. |

Daniel Goodman
Folk / Folk Rock
After earning a degree in Jazz performance Daniel returned
to his first love, traditional American folk music. His
writing style comes from many diverse sources, including the
earlier ballads of Stephen Foster as well as the traditional
music of the Appalachian region. The revival of folk music
in the 1940's through the 1960's has had a profound effect
on Daniel's music and lyrics, including Woody Guthrie, Pete
Seeger and, of course, Bob Dylan. Daniel's lyrics have also
been strongly influenced by the works of Nick Drake, Jim
Croce,Patti Smith and Jackson C. Frank. The musical legacies
of Blind Willie McTell,Leadbelly,Dock Boggs,Bascom Lamar
Lunsford,Lemon Jefferson as well as the musical dicoveries
of John Jacob Niles have also contributed greatly to the
context of both his music and lyrics |
